I graduated from Pharmacy School back in Costa Rica in 2011. Following, I worked for five years as a Community Pharmacist. During this time, I came across life situations that inspired me to undertake postgraduate studies overseas. I completed my research masters in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior in Nijmegen, NL in 2018. During my research internship I worked at the Human Genetics Department of the RadboudUMC investigating adult ADHD. Through this work I developed a keen interest in pursuing a doctoral program in molecular research of brain related diseases. After finishing my masters, I collaborated with the Evolutionary Genetics group of the Swammerdam Institute of Life Sciences of the UvA.
I consider research a meaningful career. I work towards a goal that could eventually contribute to improve the quality of life of patients diagnosed with glioblastoma, by improving the combinations of radiotherapy and immunotherapies available. Personally, it is a mentally exciting job, through which I can shape perspective and get insight into efficient scientific approaches to tailor my investigative independence. Last but not less, I especially enjoy team work, collaboration and group learning. I highly value authenticity, honesty and respect.
