Objectives

• To assess the feasibility of inspiration breath hold (IBH) in lung cancer patients
• To compare the dose distribution to the organs at risk (heart and lungs) between a photon plan based on IBH- versus 4D-CT
• To develop a robust intensity modulated proton therapy (IMPT) plan on an IBH-CT scan and compare to photon based treatment plans

Primary Endpoint

To quantify the difference in dose distribution to the target volume and OARs by calculating a photon treatment plan on IBH- compared to the clinically used plan based on standard 4D-CT scan

Secondary Endpoints

• To evaluate the feasibility to develop a robust IMPT plan on an IBH CT in lung cancer patients
• To quantify the difference in dose distribution to the target volume and OARs by calculating an IMPT plan on IBH compared to an IMPT plan on a 4D-CT scan
