About the position and the software development team

In this position you are part of our innovative software development team and you work on the development of clinical software. With your work, you contribute to Maastro’s strategy aiming to cure patients and/or to prevent side effects of the provided treatments as much as possible.

What kind of projects is the software development team currently working on?
The team currently has a portfolio of both clinical and scientific researchprojects, for example:

  • Implementing software for dosimetric validation;
  • Developing shared decision-making tools that support patients in deciding about the best possible treatment for them (see beslissamen.nl);
  • Developing global infrastructures to enable knowledge engineering and (bio)medical and medical imaging computing (for example eurocat.info, www.dtls.nl/fair-data/personal-health-train).

In order to be state-of-the-art in both patient care and research, it is important for Maastro that their software engineers are flexible and able to find the balance between clinical quality and pragmatic speed, taking into account the lead time for the entire development process. Software development takes place in Agile sprints in which the roadmap of the information managers and principal researchers are converted into a short-term planning.

You work closely with your fellow software engineers to analyze problems, identify additional requirements and come up with solutions that fit best within Maastro.

Who are we looking for?

  • You have a bachelor- or master degree in software development (or equal);
  • You have at least three years of relevant work experience;
  • You have a curious and studious nature and you are motivated to work in a combined clinical and scientific setting;
  • You are an expert in back-end programming;
  • Knowledge of at least one OOP language, for example JAVA;
  • Some knowledge of Matlab is a plus;
  • Experience with developing software according to MDR/MDD classification rules is a plus;
  • It’s a plus if you are familiar with techniques like DICOM, HL7 (FHIR) and frameworks like Spring (Boot, Cloud, Security, Data);
  • You can find your way within the Atlassian-stack (Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket) or other code managementtools like Git, Maven, etc.;
  • You can work independently but you are also a good teamplayer;
  • Speaking Dutch is not a requirement but we do require excellent communication skills in English.

  • A fulltime contract of 36 hours/week for at first one year, but with the intention to extend this to a permanent position. The Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals (“CAO Ziekenhuizen”)
  • There is flexibility in determining the work schedule, for example working 4 x 9 is a possibility.
  • A salary based on FWG salary scale 55 (min. € 2.882,-, max. € 4.227,-) and other employment conditions like a 8,33 holiday bonus, a 8,33% end of year bonus, discounts on (health) insurance, sport subscriptions, bikes and an excellent pension plan.

Working location

Hybrid, working on location in Maastricht as well as remote from home.

About the procedure

The recruitment procedure consists of a first (virtual) job interview (planned in the morning of March 23rd) and a second interview on location in Maastricht (planned on March 26th). An additional assessment is possible.
