With a background in Technical Medicine from the University of Twente, I started a PhD in Maastro focusing on visualizing tumor characteristics using functional imaging (PET). After my PhD I continued my career in Maastro as a member of the Physics Innovation Team. Followed by positions as a clinical scientist at Philips Healthcare and as a coordinator of the Digital Society program at the University of Maastricht. Since October 2020 I joined Maastro as a senior scientist focusing on the use of advanced imaging (MRI) of the brain in relationship to cognitive changes in patients treated with radiation.
I enjoy working in a clinical environment and being able to contribute to the improvement in healthcare. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with people from a diverse background inspires me. I am happy to learn from our patients by gathering and analyzing retrospective data and by initiating new clinical trials to find answers to our research questions.
My areas of expertise are technical medicine, radiation oncology, (functional) imaging, clinical trials, and technical/digital innovation.
